Thanks to many sponsors and attendees who participated in this year's Hook'em & Hold'em Casino Night, LEF was able to raise nearly $27,000 in funds that will support projects across the Lanier Cluster, including student leadership summits, community mentoring programs, and vertical innovative teaching efforts. With out the love and support of our community, this financial support would not be possible!
A BIG thank you to our many sponsors, including the City of Sugar Hill, Sugar Hill Church, Quantum Bank, Sugar Hill Kroger, the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, and so many more for making last month's event such a massive success.

Gwinnett Daily Post (11/06/17)--With its recent designation as a 21st Century Learning Exemplar in Gwinnett County Public Schools for 2017-18, Lanier Cluster Schools has a distinction that sets it apart from every other school cluster in Georgia.
“We can now claim we are the only cluster of schools in the state of Georgia to have both K-12 STEM certification and be a P21 Exemplar,” said Kyle Jones, Lanier High School’s Academy coach and leader of the cluster’s Vertical Innovation Team, in a news release. “We believe our entire cluster is aligned to truly prepare our students for life after their K-12 experience and enter an ever-changing economy and workforce.”
The cluster – Sugar Hill Elementary, Sycamore Elementary, White Oak Elementary, Lanier Middle and Lanier High – was recently honored by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21) as an Exemplar Program, demonstrating “not just an adequate implementation of the Framework for 21st Century Learning, but also expertise in the elements of student agency, distributed leadership, a climate of achievement, engaged community and use of evidence and research.

On August 4, Lanier's five cluster schools gathered as educators and community members to ring in a new school year and to celebrate the successes of the schools as well as take look ahead. The Lanier Education Foundation looks forward to the Cluster Breakfast every year because we are reminded of how amazing our teachers, administrators, and support staffs are, and we get to support those staff members with the grants we raise funds for each year!

This year the schools celebrated Lanier Middle School's STEM certification made official in May of 2017. The Lanier Cluster is now the only cluster of schools to be certified K-12 in STEM in the state of Georgia with Sycamore ES and Sugar Hill ES soon to be certified as well. In addition, the collaborative art piece "Catalyst" by local artist Craig Tilley was unveiled as a result of last spring's Lanier Cluster Art Festival.

Before the morning was over, LEF was able to present the cluster with over $28,000 in grants to support programs like the Vertical PBL Team, the Half Hour Heroes mentoring program, and the Lanier Cluster Leadership Conference. Each program makes a dynamic difference in our community and in our children's lives. We continue to look forward to each growing in the coming year. But, we have plenty of work to do for this upcoming year.

Please consider being a donor or sponsor this upcoming year so our schools continue to innovate and transform students' educational experiences. #lanierschools #LEF
